XR or Extended Reality

Virutal Reality (VR) Augmented Reality (AR) Mixed Reality (MR) and beyond...

I've always wanted to create interactive worlds, and I love architecture. Virtual Reality and related mediums are a perfect marriage of my personal and professional interests. This is why I've become so passionate about creating VR/AR/MR  or what has come to be known as XR or Extended Reality.

Below is a chronological list of my XR experience.

2015:

Samsung VRJam2015 Aetheria: Weekend Retreat:

I started working with VR in 2015. I bought the Innovator Edition of the Samsung GearVR for the Samsung Note 4. That year I participated in the Samsung VRJam2015 with my entry.

HVRE2015 Haunted Pixels:

Later that year we wanted to create a scary VR experience, so we did this project in less than 2 months.

2016:

HVRE2016 Mortimer's Mansion:

HVRE learned a ton while working on Haunted Pixels, but namely that we don't want to do VR in such a short period of time, and we wanted to try to develop on the newer VR hardware. So we brainstormed another Halloween themed game that we developed over several months and more people interested in participating.

MIT Reality Virtually Hackathon Mind Flow:

Later that year I was accepted for MIT's Reality Virtually Hackathon where I participated in this project for breathing meditation.

Professional VR tours:

I began to really push VR and 360° Tours at my workplace, SCB. I created some 360° tours and a VR tour for school projects.

2017:

Altelier VR Studio and Arcade:

This year I established a small startup for VR.

HVRE2017 Dreams

In our third year running HVRE, we expanded our repertoire into the realm of  VR-Art experiences for the Google Cardboard.

AltCtrlGDC2017 Super Furry Neon Catheads

I also was part of a team that was nominated for an IGF award for this AltCtrlGDC entry.

MIT Reality Virtually Hackathon 2017: Cat Match AR

I participated once again in this hackathon with a game to help match cats with adopted families.

Professional VR tours:

I have continued to push boundaries at SCB, and continue to progress towards using virtual reality as a means of communication among clients and project team members. This is a recent link to renderings and a 360° tour I did posted by John Calipari.

2018:

Professional VR tours:

My position at SCB has become focused on VR tours, especially room scale with highly realistic textures. They have come to recognize the value of having VR as a communication and design tool.

MIT Reality Virtually Hackathon 2019:

I plan to participate as long as they let me.
